Civilian Fatality Structure Fire; INC#0186; 04:15AM; 8536 W Wyngate St; ; Sunland; 35 Firefighters took 21 minutes to extinguish heavy fire in the front portion of a one-story 1,045 square-foot home (built 1952), where they subsequently discovered a 52 year-old male deceased; His 51 year-old female housemate at the rear of the home had been awakened by smoke, and grabbed her cell phone to call 9-1-1 as she exited the home; Due to heavy fire damage there is currently no direct or anecdotal evidence of a functional smoke alarm in the house. The building was not equipped with optional residential fire sprinklers; The woman suffered minor to moderate smoke inhalation, and was treated by LAFD Paramedics at scene before declining ambulance transport; The fire cause remains under active investigation, and an LAFD Public Information Officer (PIO) is currently en route; FS 24; Batt 12; Valley Bureau; Council District 7; Dispatched LAFD Units: AR10 AR15 AR19 AR2 AR25 AR37 AR9 BC12 E24 E274 E289 E298 E77 E98 EM14 PH1 RA74 RA874 RA98 T74 T89 T98; Radio Channels: 8; 18; - Brian Humphrey
