The Legal Unit is the sole liaison of the Fire Department to the City Attorney’s office involving Criminal filings. This Units primary duties include, enforcing the Los Angeles City Fire Code to ensure that the all the buildings within the jurisdiction of City of Los Angels are free from fire and life safety violations. When a property does become noncompliant with fire and life safety, the Legal Unit will prepare a Criminal case that may involve either residential, commercial or illegal Cannabis.
