Greater Alarm Fire - Now Out; INC#0195; 03:15AM; 1220 S Mateo St; ; Downtown; Address Tentative. It took 81 LAFD FIrefighters 55 minutes (4:10 AM) to extinguish intense flames involving a 100' x 100' outside area of stored wooden pallets. One Fire Captain sustained a non-life threatening ankle injury in the firefight, and has been taken to an area hospital in fair condition for first care. No other injuries reported. Though a section of Caltrans railing serving the nearby westbound Santa Monica (I-10) Freeway was disfigured by the fire, no other structures were damaged.
