KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1041; 02:58PM; 837 W 70th St; ; Vermont-Slauson; Firefighters grouped and covered belongings in the living space below the attic where fire was blazing to keep from damaging items with water and smoke. Firefighters then opened up the attic to access the area of fire involvement, using as little water as possible to extinguish the flames. It took 24 firefighters 11 minutes to extinguish the fire. At the time of fire ignition, a roofing operation was underway by construction workers above. The official cause is still under investigation.
