Structure Fire 11/19/2016

Structure Fire; 05:21AM; 800 N Alameda St; ; NOW OUT; Historic #UnionStation; 82 FF's took 29 minutes to extinguish flames; Fire confined to breezeway area on the south colonnade near a patio adjacent to the iconic former Fred Harvey restaurant near the main entrance on Alameda St; An exceptional effort by ÃûæÂÖ±²¥ crews spared the former restaurant space - which suffered only one broken window and minor smoke damage, as well as the remainder of the largest railroad passenger terminal in the western United States from suffering significant damage; Rail, bus and subway operations at the famed facility - which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, should not be disrupted by the fire, which caused no injury; Though the fire appeared to have originated in a roll-away trash dumpster, the cause of the blaze remains under active investigation; A monetary loss from the fire is still being tabulated; LAFD PIO Captain Daniel Curry will be on scene to assist media; LA Sheriff Transit Policing Services is supporting the active investigation; NFD (No Further Details); FS 4; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; Dispatched Units: E4 RA4 E3 T3 E203 RA803 E9 T9 SQ21 BC1 BC711 CM22 E209 T1 E201 E210 E10 T10 EM1 BC2 HR56 T27 E227 E27 UR27 RA27 RA827 UR88 BC5 EA1 AR1; CH: 7; 12; Brian Humphrey
