Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1336; 05:44PM; 5411 S Vermont Av; ; Vermont-Slauson; Two-story commercial building with heavy fire showing from the first floor upon LAFD arrival. Firefighters quickly forced access to the interior and went to the roof of the structure, coordinating fire attack and declaring knockdown in 31 minutes. Fire companies spent extensive time chasing fire in the walls of the structure, and now remain onscene to overhaul the damage. LAFD HazMat specialists have been requested; LADWP, LADOT, and the gas company will handle traffic and utility management.
