Update Hazardous Materials Investigation; INC#0955; 05:30PM; 2820 W Slauson Av; ; Hyde Park; 36 Firefighters, including LAFD HazMat experts using sophisticated sensing equipment, remain active at the scene. They have noted the presence of flammable vapors on the premises, and are attempting to identify the precise product/s and source of fumes. There is no fire, no illness and no injury. Out of an abundance of caution, LAFD has asked an unknown number of occupants from the investigation site and two adjacent structures (for a total of 3 buildings) to leave the immediate area until the situation is stabilized. Those persons are waiting comfortably nearby, and may be placed on Metro transit buses (en route) to be taken to a remote shelter site if and as necessary.
