Arson Investigator Rosa Tufts is the 2017 'Firefighter of the Year'

Rosa Torres Tufts was named the 2017 Firefighter of the Year by her colleagues and recognized by the City of ÃûæÂÖ±²¥fighter's Association, ÃûæÂÖ±²¥ Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas, and numerous civic leaders on April 4, 2018.  She becomes the first LAFD Arson Investigator and female to receive the prestigious award.Image removed." src="/sites/all/modules/contrib/wysiwyg/plugins/break/images/spacer.gif" title="<--break-->">

Investigator Tufts has just over 34 years of service with the LAFD and has been an Arson Investigator for the past 12 years.  She is currently assigned to the Arson Counter Terrorism Section, working with LAPD Major Crimes Division as a Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) Investigator. Previously she was an Engineer assigned to Fire Station 27 proudly serving the Hollywood area. 

Investigator Tufts has been a positive influence impacting not only ÃûæÂÖ±²¥fighters but public safety professionals throughout the region. Her influence and inspiration has reached many civilian and first responders through her work within the numerous Arson and Counter Terrorism environments as well as the fire stations in which she has served.  She has mentored and instructed hundreds of first responders, students, and career firefighters for more than two decades of service and dedication.  She teaches courses and develops programs to enhance organizations such as the NFPA, IAFF, DHS, and FEMA. Inspector Tufts has also been involved in numerous significant incidents taking a major role in the investigative process and serving as a vital part of the Arson Counter Terrorism Section.

Investigator Rosa Tufts has earned the deep respect and admiration of her colleagues, the industry, and the ÃûæÂÖ±²¥ and we are proud to proclaim her the 2017 Firefighter of the Year.
