An early morning house fire in Boyle Heights sent five people to the hospital with sadly one person pronounced deceased.

The was summoned at 4:02 AM on December 29, 2018 to in Boyle Heights, where firefighters arrived quickly to find heavy fire showing from the front of a 1,025 square-foot one-story home. 

Firefighters immediately entered the rear of the home to extinguish the blaze and rapidly rescued a 66-year-old woman found unconscious.  Awaiting paramedics provided advanced life support medical care and prompt transportation to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.  Additionally, four other members of the home were transported to the hospital including a 34-year old female with burns and smoke inhalation in serious condition as well as a 35-year old male, 3-year-old male, and 66-year-old male all in serious condition with possible smoke inhalation.

During this time, 41 firefighters continued the aggressive fire attack and coordinated vertical ventilation extinguishing the flames in just 29 minutes.  The cause of the fire is under active investigation by the and cause of death will be determined by the .
