Brush Fire at Ernest E. Debs Regional Park Extinguished Despite Winds

LOS ANGELES-
A brush fire in Montecito Heights within the Ernest E. Debs Regional Park is quickly extinguished despite wind. 
 
At 3:39 PM on April 26, 2017, the  was notified of a brush fire within Debs Regional Park.  Firefighters utilized an air and ground attack with assistance from .
 
Firefighters arrived quickly to a slow moving 15 acre brush fire being driven by the park’s topography.  However, as the winds increased, firefighters were able to battle the blaze using ground crews and water dropping helicopters, keeping it from spreading.  Placing crews ahead of the fire and the coordinated effort of the LAFD and LACoFD was the key to this quick and successful firefight.
 
It took just under 2 hours for 120 firefighters to battle the blaze with no structures damaged and no reported injuries. The cause remains under investigation.
