BRUSH SEASON IS BACK

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

LOS ANGELES - Brush clearance season starts today, May 1st. If you see any smiling faces in uniforms on your property, do not be alarmed - it is the (LAFD) Inspectors that will be inspecting your property for grass, weeds, native brush, combustible fences, etc. Our 13 wonderful brush inspectors are tasked with inspecting over 137,000 private properties every year starting May 1st (on top of all of the public parcels they inspect before May 1). To help them get a head start on the process, a group of firefighters is assembled every year, called the Brush Task Force. These members are trained in brush inspection and the used to track parcels. The training is now complete and on May 1st, they will disperse into the to ensure our city is safer with the mandatory defensible space we desperately need.
