Fire Commission Honors Members for Work on Tiered DIspatching System

Tuesday, May 19, 2015
LOS ANGELES-

The ÃûæÂÖ±²¥ is dedicated to your safety and ensuring we provide the best possible service to the citizens of Los Angeles. This morning, the Fire Commission honored a group of individuals whose work over a 10 month period helped make you even safer.  LAFD dispatchers, medical personnel and civilians collaborated to build an entirely new dispatching protocol from scratch called, Tiered Dispatching System (TDS). A dispatching system can be rather complex.  The time spent gathering information over the phone to determine what type of assistance is required causes delays.  TDS reduces those delays and ensures that when you call 911, the nearest, most appropriate LAFD resource is sent to you immediately. If you need help providing CPR, the dispatchers can now give that guidance before the LAFD even arrives.  This will save lives.  These extraordinary members gave up vacations and personal obligations to ensure the success of TDS.  The LAFD is very proud of them.  We hope you share in our salute to them for being partners and innovators in public safety.

Truly, they have made the City of Los Angeles a safer place.
