LAFD Alert via SMS Option Not Functioning

On September 4, 2019 Twitter disabled the 'tweet via SMS' function due to security concerns. This affects those subscribers to our LAFD incident alerts who selected the SMS option (by texting FOLLOW LAFD to 40404).
Please note, you will NOT receive alerts via SMS until Twitter restores this service. We have temporarily removed that option from our alert sign up website.
The current options for seeing/receiving LAFD incident alerts are:
1) Sign up to receive alerts via email at
2) Follow @LAFD on twitter
3) Visit
If/when Twitter restores this option, we will share that information.
