LAFD Handles Major Emergency Commercial Fire
Over 127 battled a Major Emergency commercial fire for 55 minutes before gaining a knockdown and preventing the spread to exposed buildings.
At 12:32 AM, the responded to a reported structure fire at in Glassell Park. First arriving units found a large with heavy fire showing. 
Given the time of night, the fire had a good head start before being reported. Consequently, it quickly burned through the roof. Due to the high risk to firefighters, Incident Commander, Assistant Chief Donald Frazeur, directed the transition to a defensive operation.
The aggressive, coordinated actions by all members on scene resulted in the extinguishment of the fire while preventing damage to the adjoining buildings. A broken water main was shut down by LAFD and DWP was quickly on scene to address the issue. Flowing water did affect the yards of nearby residential homes but did not cause flooding damage.
One male firefighter was treated for a minor, extremity injury. Cause is being investigated by the and dollar loss TBD. All photos ©
