LAFD Quells Stubborn Flames in Koreatown Market

KOREATOWN-
Firefighters were spared injury early Wednesday while battling a stubborn greater alarm fire in a Filipino supermarket that led to structural collapse.
The received the first of several 9-1-1 calls from passersby at 12:30 AM on January 10, 2018, reporting fire in a one story L-shaped strip mall near Vermont Avenue and 3rd Street. LAFD crews arrived quickly at in to discover heavy fire through the roof of the .
Despite deeply entrenched flames that led to severe structural compromise with interior and exterior collapse, 104 Los Angeles firefighters under the command of Assistant Chief Roy Harvey safely confined the fire to the sizeable business of origin, fully extinguishing the flames in just 1 hour and 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Fire loss to the market is still being tabulated. The skilfull efforts of LAFD responders prevented any fire damage to the ten businesses that shared the block-long structure. The cause of the blaze remains under active investigation.
