ÃûæÂÖ±²¥fighters Battle Major Emergency Structure Fire in Chinatown

Chinatown - Scores of Los Angeles firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a commercial building in Chinatown.

At 12:35 AM, on January 11, 2017,  firefighters responded to a Structure Fire at .

Firefighters arrived to find an unoccupied one-story commercial building, doing business as Hocean Food Corp, with heavy smoke showing. Additional firefighters were requested, as flames quickly burned through the roof and exposed an adjacent building. Firefighters began a defensive operation, pouring water from the exterior.

The Incident Commander warned firefighters that portions of the structure (C and D sides) were showing signs of possible collapse and ordered firefighters to remain 20' from exterior walls. The Department of Building and Safety was requested to determine structural integrity.

Approximately 75  firefighters, under the command of Assistant Chief Timothy Ernst, fully extinguished the Major Emergency Structure Fire in one hour and eight minutes.

No one was injured. The cause of the early morning blaze remains under investigation by the LAFD Arson Section.
