North Hollywood House Fire Sends 3 LAFD Firefighters to Hospital

NORTH HOLLYWOOD-
A vicious fire fueled by a Christmas tree caused heavy damage to a North Hollywood home, sending three firefighters to the hospital Tuesday morning. 
 
The was summoned at 3:46 AM on January 6, 2015 to in North Hollywood, where firefighters arrived quickly to find a 1,504 square-foot well involved with fire. 
 
The home's four residents, who were able to escape unharmed, looked on as teams of firefighters commenced an aggressive and well coordinated attack on the flames. Forty-six firefighters under the command of Battalion Chief Daniel McCarty confined the fire to the structure, extinguishing the blaze in just 26 minutes.
 
During their fierce assault on the flames, three ÃûæÂÖ±²¥fighters suffered painful though non-life threatening burn injuries. In fair condition, the men were transported to the at for primary care. Following initial treatment, they were released to remain off duty. 
 
Though the residence was reportedly equipped with , severe fire damage prevented LAFD responders from determining their functional status at the time of the blaze. The 75 year-old home was not equipped with optional . 
 
The four displaced residents chose to seek their own accommodations. Fire loss has been estimated at $240,000 ($160,000 structure and $80,000 contents). The family's dry Christmas tree - yet to be removed from the home's interior for , was deemed to have strongly fueled the fire, which was determined to be electrical in nature.
