Public Safety Agencies Unite to Urge Independence Day Safety

Los Angeles-

With Independence Day quickly approaching, multiple agencies joined forces and held a news conference today to talk about the importance of fireworks safety. 

(LAFD) Fire Chief joined other leaders from  (LACoFD); (LAPD); (LASD); (ATF); and the to discuss the harmful effects of illegal fireworks and what the public can do to have a safe Fourth of July. They also answered questions regarding preparations for the Fourth of July holiday. 

This was a great opportunity for the fire department and law enforcement to display their vehicles, the bomb squad showed powerful confiscated illegal fireworks, and a pyrotechnic expert demonstrated the potentially lethal power of illegal fireworks.Watermelons blown up by fireworks.

Law enforcement officials discussed their efforts and penalties surrounding the use of illegal fireworks. Officials also announced the 2015 鈥淛unior Fire Chiefs鈥 鈥揺lementary school students who produced beautiful posters to help send the message to 鈥淰isit a Professional Fireworks Show鈥 in Los Angeles County.

Joint Anti-Fireworks Campaigns such as this have assisted in significant reductions in fireworks-related incidents and losses throughout the City.
