Firefighters arrived to find a small plane, severely damaged, on the down sloping embankment of the freeway. They immediately began searching the wreckage for a patient while also building a berm to contain a small fuel leak.

One patient was located within the plane debris and sadly determined dead on scene. After a thorough search of the aircraft remains, firefighters found no other patients.

Once the aircraft was relocated and the NTSB / FAA and made their initial assessment, firefighters conducted a body removal operation. The incident was then transitioned to the investigative agencies.
